At the press conference on August 17 at Seoul Lotte Cinema World Tower, she stated, "This manga is incredibly popular in Japan and sold over 10,000,000 copies. I myself bought a copy of the series at a bookstore and read all ten books. It was so good. If you ask someone in Japan, there is no one who wouldn't know [this manga], so when I got an offer [to star in the live action film], I wholeheartedly agreed." Jiyoung added, "I played the role of Irina Jelavic who carries out the mission with the students. It was my first time playing a sexy role, and because I was an assassin, I was a bit overwhelmed. Kang Ji Young made her first public appearance in Korea since leaving Kara one year ago at a reporters roundtable for film Assassination Classroom, held at the Lotte Cinema World Tower location in Seoul′s Songpa-gu on August 17. "I′ve been active in Japan for a year, but it really wasn′t easy," said Kang Ji Young. Since leaving Kara last year and announcing she would be focusing on her acting career, Kang Ji Young has gained recognition in Japan for her appearances in dramas Hell Teacher Nube and Tamiou. Kang Ji Young said, "It wasn′t easy even if I could speak a certain amount of Japanese. It was really difficult, and I thought, ′This isn′t for everybody.′" She continued, "I learned a lot in a year. I even studied abroad in London and grew a lot. Being alone in Japan, there were days when I felt lonely, but there were many people who cheered me on, like my family and friends. It gets lonely and hard, but I think it was a year that enabled me to grow." Meanwhile, Assassination Classroom is based on a Japanese manga of the same name. The story is centered on the students of class 3-E, who are promised a reward of 100 billion won if they assassinate the monster who is posing as their teacher. The movie premieres on August 27. DSP Media previously expressed their intentions to take legal action against people leaving malicious comments about their artists. The agency has given an update on their crusade on August 10. DSP stated: "We've launched legal action against netizens spreading false information regarding artists under our agency. On August 10, the company submitted a complaint to the Cyber Crimes Unit of the Gangnam Police Station and officially requested an investigation. "Despite expressing our intention to take firm action regarding the malicious comments regarding our agency's artists via the official home page of the company this past July 30, situations like this have arisen, which we find to be such a shame. The company has decided that we could no longer turn a blind eye to the netizens who have made a habit of [creating] thoughtless untruths and personal attacks regarding our artists through portal sites and internet communities. "A portion of netizens are making it seem as if contents from non-existing reports are true and making it seem as if they are people concerned in rumors that have no basis in fact and circulate [the rumors]. This could cause loss to an artist's image and also cause chaos in the public; and therefore, we reveal that we will take firm action against malicious comments and rumors." The casting for SBS's upcoming martial arts variety 'Shaolin Clenched Fists' has recently been confirmed! After existing cast members Kim Byung Man and Yook Joong Wan have been selected as the guides for the third trek to a shaolin monastery, the female cast was confirmed to include actresses Choi Jung Yoon, Ha Jae Sook, Im Soo Hyang, Hara, UEE, Fei, and Oh Jung Yeon, who has a background as an announcer. UEE was previously reported to appear on the show. This female edition of 'Shaolin Clenched Fists' won't take place at the north shaolin temple located in Mount Song, which was used for the original male version of the show; instead, it will take place at a southern shaolin temple in Fujian's Quanzhou Province. The members will enter the temple as disciples and attempt to master the martial arts via training methods that were passed down through the ages. The female team will depart this coming August 17 for the Quanzhou south temple and begin their action-packed martial arts challenge! AKP
