(THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - HALLYU star girl group KARA has been appointed as PR ambassador for 2011 K-pop Cover Dance Festival, which begins its second round competition on Sept 3.

The festival celebrates the 'cover dance' videos that K-pop fans around the globe are currently submitting online through www.coverdance.org for the preliminary round of the competition. The cover dance refers to emulating of the original choreography of popular K-pop dances.

The winners of the online competition will be invited to compete for the second round, which will be held in Seoul and foreign cities including LA, Moscow, Tokyo, Bangkok and San Paulo.

  2. KARA has seen much success in Japan since their Japanese debut, topping the Recochoku monthly chart and placing high on other Japanese music charts. On August 6, girl group KARA saw the results of their popularity when they held a fan meeting at Yokohama Arena, a venue that can accommodate up to 17,000 people.

At the beginning of the fan meeting, KARA's Nicole said, "Everyone's hot! Don't you think? Today, let's have fun together!" The girl group then performed 10 songs for their fans, including hit songs like "Mister" and "Go Go Summer".

A game corner was also held during the fan meeting, allowing those who attended to interact with the girls. Later, Nicole promised, "Next year, KARA will have a concert!"

At the Yokohama Arena fan meeting, KARA saw about 10,000 of their fans, making the event the largest they've ever done. An excited Seungyeon began tearing up, saying, "Kamilias are wonders!"

Later this month, KARA will perform at "K-POP ALL STAR Live in Niigata" at the Tohoku Electric Big Swan Stadium in Niigata. They will make their Korean comeback in September.

  3. i think dsp has always considered their opinions. like how mister's outfit concept was Jiyoung's idea and previous articles of comebacks usually had mentions of them deciding on the songs too.

im so excited for their comeback but im really disappointed that they will only promote for 3 weeks. considering this is their first comeback in Korea after the lawsuit and stuff, i thought they would stayed longer. i really hope it wont be that case. 3 weeks of promos, i'm guessing that it would be another mini album too?

& they MUST come on sstp as guests toooooooo.

  4. Recently, the members of KARA performed at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, for the special KBS Music Bank "KPOP Festival" concert on July 13th. Park Gyuri and Goo Hara were two of the three special MCs along with Hyunwoo for the concert in addition to being performers that night. According to an interview with KBS, they said, "We felt really nervous when we looked at the huge stage. KARA wants to hold a solo concert at the Tokyo Dome someday."

Park Gyuri said, "It is a great honor for me to stand on this stage of the Tokyo Dome, and moreover, I feel really happy that I am hosting the concert as an MC. I think that I have to do my best to try to hold KARA

  5. awww. that's so cute. where are those from? haha, i was watching urakara ep 5, the bts scenes? (late, late, i know.) i thought it was really adorable how they asked Jing to explain the term 'Love Triangle'. Haha. We should get Jing one of those robot props. :P

ah, idk if you guys seen this topic.

the topic been there since April. i think we should decide on one of the options and just have it closed/decided by the end of the week?

  6. Yahoo! Japan has released a list of the top searches made in the first half of the year on the popular Japanese search engine.

The list has three different categories including overall ranking, people ranking, and television program ranking. While no Korean groups managed to make it on the overall ranking, which was dominated by websites like YouTube and Mixi, SNSD, KARA, and TVXQ made it onto the top people ranking.

Japanese girl group AKB48 took first place, while boy band Arashi took second and AKB48 member Maeda Atsuko took third.

SNSD came behind them in fourth, followed by KARA in fifth. SNSD's first Japanese album was just certified double-platinum and they were chosen, along with TVXQ, to promote Korean Wave products at 7-Elevens in Japan. KARA released their fourth Japanese single "Go Go Summer!" on June 29th and has already sold over 100,000 copies.

TVXQ followed in tenth place, following three AKB48 members and boy band EXILE. As mentioned before, TVXQ will be promoting Korean Wave products at Japanese 7-Elevens along with SNSD. TVXQ has also become the first Korean group to grace the cover of Japanese Rolling Stone magazine. The fact that Korean groups managed to obtain three of the top ten spots for most searched keywords demonstrates the ever-increasing influence of Korean music in Japan.

  7. a bit random. i was watching cuts of snsd's photobook dvd and also rewatching Invincible Youth. i realised they used Hara's jokes/riddles as one of the dvd's game segment.
