yummiberries
Many people say that KARA's music have a Japanese feel to them. However, my knowledge of Japanese is extremely limited so I have no clue what they are talking about The purpose of this topic is to educate me, along with other Kamilias, on how KARA sounds Japanese and how some Japanese songs sound like KARA. (Does that make sense? I hope it does lol) I have been interested in Japanese music for a long time but I don't know where to start. I really love KARA's distinct sound so it would be safe to start with a Japanese artist with those similarities. So, just post Japanese songs that has some KARA qualities or if you can tie in a KARA song with another Japanese song. I am determined to find time to give them a listen. P.S If anyone can find a Japanese song that sounds like Pandora, you get my love lol Edited November 2, 2014 by yummiberries
mitsuki0208
Wow your thought is exactly like mine lol I'm curious about it too tbh. It will be great too if someone can tell how does K-Pop sounds different from J-Pop apart from the language itself.
lukas_95
I don't really know. But, as a fan of Kpop and sometimes I listen to Jpop, This is my opinion: Jpop- song usually have more fast tempo, a bit more "fun" and "cutesy" songs. Hmm, maybe not much adults will like it, but for some fans, this song is addicting. The lyrics usually not as meaningful as Kpop ballads. Kpop- usually a bit matured song, the "cuteness" is not really obvious now(different from 2007-2009 era). And there's much ballad songs, usually that's for drama OST too. But, you can't really tell KARA is Jpop or Kpop. For me, KARA is now blended Japanese and Korean. There's some songs sound like Korean, and some sound like Japanese. edit eh eh alright, you need some example: KARA Fantastics girls album, most of that soungs are sound like other Jpop songs. and for the example of typical Kpop - Lupin, Damaged Lady. [for the others band, check Afterschool, 4minute] [Mister, Wanna, Honey was a part of typical Kpop in 2007-2009 era. Compare it with SNSD Gee, Kissing you, T-ara bo peep bo peep] -------------------- my 300th posts! lethern
In Kpop there is more rap-similar parts ( )Anyway, saying that Kara sounds japanese, when Kara has like 50% songs for Japan, is understandable... no?One of most successful "japanese" Kara's song - Jet Coaster Love Edited September 9, 2014 by lethern
ToiletBanana
Hammie's guilty sounded like an anime song...so was Speed Up....so i guess theres a point here?
itsmiina
I guess some of their Korean songs do sound like their Japanese ones? I don't really mind though because Jet Coaster Love & Go Go Summer are two of my favorite KARA songs. (Although, I do think that they manage to make their sound appropriate for whatever country the song is for. I think Mamma Mia sounds more Kpop-ish than Jpop-ish tho.) megamanno99
For me, most of their songs sounds like more anime-ish or Japan-ish back then! If you consider Rock You and most of their Japanese songs after Jumping, every song sounds like more J-Pop-ish nowadays, as compared to Perfume and Momoiro Clover! Honey, Wanna, Mister, Jumping and Mamma Mia sounds like retro-Japanese styled music back then in the 80's up to 90's. However, if you check their background tones, they toned like more of 90's music, more trancy and almost compared to bubblegum pop! Only Break It, Lupin, Step, Pandora, Runaway and Damaged Lady sounds K-Pop-ish!
jiniforyourwish
Some of their songs do sound more jpop-ish. Jpop songs usually sound cuter if you listen to akb48 etc, so kara's mister, honey and pretty girl probably sound really jpop-ish. And one of the songs, 2night, from the full bloom album does sound jpop-ish to me too. But i don't think lupin, pandora and damaged lady do though!!
