Today, we celebrate 9 years with our beloved KARA. Here's a brief history through pictures:


 


On March 29, 2007, they made their official debut with "Break It" on Music Core. KARA began as a 4-member group: Sunghee, Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Nicole.

On July 24, 2008, after fellow member Sunghee left the group due to personal reasons, KARA reformed as a 5-unit band with Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung. They showed off their bright and cute personalities with Rock U.

On December 2008, they quickly followed up with a new fresh, bubbly concept with Pretty Girl.

On March 5, 2009, nearly 2 years after their debut, their received their first win with Honey.

Later in 2009, KARA jumped into the front of the K-Pop scene with their iconic song, 'Mister'. It was promoted with 'Wanna' in their album 'Revolution, but their famous butt-dance took the world by storm as KARA grew in fame and popularity.

in 2010, KARA followed up with 2 promotions, 'Lupin' and 'Jumping'; the latter was released in Korea and Japan simultaneously.

On June 22, 2011, KARA released one of their most popular Japanese songs, Go Go Summer. It debuted on the #1 spot on the Oricon charts and solidified their popularity in Japan.

On Sept 6, 2011, no time was wasted as KARA came back with their powerful, upbeat track, 'Step'. It is their most watched music video on Youtube, with 70+ million views.

In February of 2012, KARA embarked on their first concert tour, titled 'KARASIA'. They went on to continue this tour yearly, until 2015. KARA holds the title of being the very first Korean girl group to hold a concert in the Tokyo Dome, on January 16, 2013.

On August 2012, KARA returned with a mysterious, mature concept with 'Pandora'. Their 'sexy-back' move was their dance point for this edgy song.

On September 2, 2013, after a year of hiatus, KARA came back with 'Damaged Lady'. The album was titled 'Full Bloom', and was the last album promoted by the full 5-member group.

Early in 2014, Nicole and Jiyoung announced their departures from the group. Leaving only 3 members, a reality show called 'KARA Project' was held to elect in another member. Heo Youngji emerged as the winner, and KARA came back with a catchy 80s tune titled 'Mamma Mia'

On May 26, 2015, KARA shot arrows into the hearts of their fans with their new single, 'Cupid'. They showed off a snew side to their sexy, mature charm.

On January 15, 2016, Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Hara left DSP as their contracts have expired.

KARA has not disbanded. They all agreed to go their own separate paths in their next journey.
