Kara managed to top the list of Gallup Korea in 2009 and 2010 at No. 6 and No. 5 respectively, thus making them the second best girl group in Korea for 2010. In February 2012, in celebration of Forbes Korea's 9th year of establishment, Forbes Korea has reported this year’s list of the top 40 ‘Power Celebrities'. Kara made it in the list and ranked at No. 4, thus making them as the second most powerful girl group and the third most powerful female celebrity. ‘Celebrity’ refers to an individual who is widely known by the masses, and Forbes takes 100 of these celebrities and ranks them based on income, influence, fame, and professionalism. The format is the same that Forbes in the United States uses for their ‘Celebrity 100′ list, and the list is reported on an annual basis

KARA named one of Korea’s 10 gems

Girl group KARA has received the honor of being named one of Korea’s 10 “Stars” by the Korea Tourism’s Star Organization for the 2012 Korea Tourism Awards, which is hosted by the state-run tourism bureau in Korea.

KARA was named a “Star” within the Special Segment Category while other nine “Stars” selected were mostly hotspots and organizations that benefited the tourism industry around the nation such as the Pine Tree Forest near Mount Kumgang in Gangwon and Suwon Fortress in Gyeonggi.

KARA was thought to be an influential K-pop group that prompted Japanese tourists to visit Korea, which resulted in the girl group being selected.

More than 29,099 respondents took part in the survey this year.

An awards ceremony for the nominees will take place at Chongdong Theater in Jung District, central Seoul, on June 12.

KARA appointed as ambassadors for ‘K-Food’

Girl group KARA, who recently made their comeback with “Pandora”, has been appointed ‘K-Food’ ambassadors.

From September, KARA will be the ambassadors of ‘K-Food’ campaign, which is hosted by Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. KARA will be appearing in various pictorials and campaign promotion videos to promote the greatness of K-Food to other Asian countries.

A representative stated, “As Hallyu idols, we expected that KARA will have a positive impact on the popularization of Korean food. The lively and healthy image will work overseas as well.”

KARA will kick off their promotional activities by holding a one-day event with music distribution website Naver Music, where they will cook and serve select fans on September 3.

The members remarked, “We are happy to help such a great cause, and we will do our best to spread the Korean food culture to all over the world.”

KARA to visit Taiwan next week, donate personal items for charity

Korean top girl group KARA will be visiting Taiwan for the first time next Saturday to hold a fan meeting. Besides bringing sweets and lollipops for the under-privileged children to allow them to enjoy a happy Children’s Day, they will be donating personal items for auction, to rally their fans towards supporting the charity work of the Red Heart Association.

Korean super-popular girl group KARA will be visiting Taiwan on 31 March. As first-time visitors to Taiwan, besides bringing along great song and dance performances and meeting their fans, the 5 members announced that they will be joining in the Red Hearts Association’s charity work, donate their personal items for online auctions, and use the proceeds to help pay for the school fees and meals of the under-privileged children.

Kara to Model for Art Posters Painted by Realist Artists

Painters Won Jong Shin and Park Ki Ill have launched a project to produce ‘art posters’ using the Kara members as models.

The project is in its last stages, and will be revealed to the public through an exhibition sometime in December. The pieces will be released in a limited collection, and will be sold to art lovers as well as Kara fans.

Won Jong Shin, a realist painter, will be painting Kara with a mixed media method that uses both photographs and painting techniques. Park Ki Ill will use his own unique realist methods to portray the Kara members as model dolls.

It is unprecedented to have prominent painters produce art poster content using an idol group as a model, and the event proves that Kara is loved across all forms of art.

The project was put together to spread the notion that art is not hard or too formal, but that it’s another type of culture that can be easily enjoyed.

Artists will naturally come together with pop cultural content, and the public will be able to help with the development of Korean art by collecting art pieces that portray their favorite stars as models.

About the project, the Kara members said, “We’re curious on how Kara will be reborn in the hands of such famous artists. It will be fun.”

Specific introductions for the pieces and purchase opportunities will be made available sometime in October through the TV12 gallery webpage, and the pieces will be displayed in an exhibition at the TV12 gallery in December.

Kara’s KBS Documentary to Reveal All About Kara

Though the Kara members may have said their goodbyes on stage, Kara fans will still get a chance to see more of them through their upcoming documentary.

Kara will be the first featured star of KBS’ Real Stargraphy, a new documentary series from KBS which follows the life and happenings of hallyu stars.

Kara’s documentary will show the Kara members as they get ready for their comeback for Pandora, shoot their music video, perform abroad and more to provide a look at the real Kara and what the members’ everyday lives are like.

In addition to their group activities, the cameras will follow the individual members to shed more light on their lives including Park Gyuri going about her packed everyday schedule, only child Han Seung Yeon on a date with her family, Nicole revealing her diet secrets, fashionista Goo Hara on a shopping excursion and Kang Ji Young’s truthful stories on life as a Kara member for the past five years.

The Kara members will also be seen holding a pajama party to celebrate Kara’s fifth year which will include footage of the members from the past as well as a time to share what they aspire and hope for the group in the future.

The documentary airs on KBS on October 2.

Kara beats Psy’s “Gangnam Style” and ranks first place

Girl group Kara that consists of Park Gyuri, Nicole, Han Seung Yeon, Kang Jiyoung, and Goo Hara, revealed a picture of them celebrating their win at Music Bank.

On the afternoon of September 7, Kang Jiyoung uploaded a picture on her Twitter captioned, “Thank you!”

The picture shows all the members of Kara smiling brightly and seemed pleased to take first place on the show.

Netizens commented: “Pandora is awesome.” “Congratulations on taking first place.” “I want to join your after party.”

KARA acknowledged as the current “hot models” in advertising

KARA is receiving the spotlight as the current “hot models” of the Korean advertisement industry.

After KARA resumed activities in Korea starting last June, they signed a total of six contracts to promote brands as endorsement models.

The KARA members are currently models for cosmetics (Nature Republic), cars (Kia Pride), casual and sports clothing (Kappa,Union Bay), food (Snickers, Mango Six) among others. Usually the endorsement models for these types of huge brands are reserved for big-name actors, but KARA is showing that they can promote a variety of products and produce positive results.

When considering that they only returned to Korea to promote their 3rd album for three weeks last September, the fact that the group still continuously appeared in commercials to greet their fans as models while receiving high praise for their work is truly amazing. KARA is not only in advertising in their native Korea, but are active in Japan as well, where they are in advertisements for products like hair dye, pastries, and drinks, proving their worth overseas as well.

KARA will start their concert tour ‘KARASIA‘ in Yokohama on April 14th. The group will tour around Japan visiting other sites such as Nagoya, Osaka, and Toyko to perform in front of 130,000 screaming, adoring fans.

The tickets to the concerts were sold out immediately after sales began so two additional shows at Saitama Super Arena have been included in the tour. Once they finish the ‘KARASIA’ tour in Japan, KARA plans to refocus on promotions in Korea.

Kara Hits No.1 on ‘Taiwan Mobile’s Download Chart

Kara is receiving strong support and love in Taiwan. DSP Media revealed on September 18 that Kara’s Pandorahad recently topped Taiwan Mobile’s download chart. Kara’s accomplishment on the chart is all the more impressive as Kara only revealed the tracks off the new album but has not yet officially released the album there.

KARA achieves all-kill on real-time charts "Pandora"

KARA has topped various charts with their latest title track, "Pandora."

On August 22nd, KARA released their 5th mini-album a listeingse topnd music video "Pandora," and 3 hours after its release, was found in first place on Melon, Mnet and Olleh Music.

In addition, "KARA" and "Pandora" emerged as some of the top searched words on real time queries. "Pandora" is a dance track that is synth-pop based that mixes retro punk, hard rock elements and electronica with a twist.

The group achieved an all-kill on real-time charts as they performed their comeback showcase on the 22nd at the Walker Hill Hotel in Gwangjin, Seoul, where more than 250 reporters and 900 fans attended

KARA to be featured in anime ‘KARA the Animation’

It has been reported that there are plans for a KARA anime!
Girl group KARA will be the basis of a Japanese anime titled ‘KARA the Animation (working title)’ and it is expected to air in early 2013. The show will depict the 5 beautiful ladies of KARA and the characters will be based on the individual personality and image of the members.
A member at the production company shared, “Like KARA’s, whose name is synonymous with ‘sweet melody’, the anime will show a ‘sweet story’. We are sure this show will please fans of KARA as well as anime fans in general.”
After ‘KARA the Animation’ airs in Japan, it is planned to air in Korea at a later date as well.

KARA releases their own fragrance

Girl group KARA has released their own fragrance, K5J (KARA 5 JEWEL), and has become the first Korean artist to have their own perfume line.
With the launch of the perfume, they have also opened up a website dedicated to the fragrance, www.kara5jewel.com.
KARA revealed their thoughts about the product on the website, saying “We couldn’t have achieved this historic milestone without our fans and thank you all for your love and continued support.”
KARA members Seungyeon, Gyuri, Jiyoung, Hara, and Nicole traveled to Paris in the summer of 2011 to meet with the French designers and experts to pick out the fragrance and review the design themselves. On the last day of their special trip to Europe, they decided on the name KARA 5 JEWELto remind themselves of the special “jewel” that the five members created together.
KARA hopes that the fragrance will bring them even closer to their fans. By catching a whiff of the “fruity, floral, and woody” scent, they hope the fans will also get a glimpse of the exciting Paris adventure the girls went on.
The perfume is available for pre-order for $70 USD, and international orders will ship starting on May 15th, 2012.
